Happy new month loves, this is the first blog post for the month of May so it’s a new month for my lovely readers and I. It’s been 2 weeks since my last blog post and I want to apologize for keeping you hanging for that long.
I recently traveled to Nigeria 🇳🇬 via Turkish airline (one of the busiest airlines in the world) and I had a stop over at the new Istanbul airport. The airport officially commenced commercial passenger flights on the 6th of April 2019 due to the expansion of flight destinations and an organized + comfortable transit experience for their passengers. I had over 6 hours transit time and I decided to explore the airport while at that, I discovered that a lot of people were confused, many were running without taking note of the direction board because they had very little time to connect with their next flight. Some almost missed their flight because they couldn’t find their gates on time.
I was lucky I had a long transit time so I decided to make a post about the new airport to help people find their way easily.
PASSENGERS WITH SHORT TRANSIT TIME.
If your transit time is less than 2 hours here’s what you need to take note of. Once you get off the aircraft, take note of the direction boards and keep following it, just Incase you do not understand where the it’s leading to, look out for the airport workers ( they all put on purple polo shirts with ASK ME written on it) you can ask them and they’ll direct you to the passport control. When you leave the passport control, find your way upstairs and look out for the direction board again or ask the workers and they’ll direct you to your gate. You have to be fast about all the things I said above because the airport is really big.
PASSENGERS WITH LONG TRANSIT TIME.
If you have a long transit time you can take your time to do the things I said above. One interesting thing about the new airport is that there is unlimited free WiFi that works well (IGA guest) all you need to do is fill in your number and a code would be sent to you. Another good thing is that there are two food courts located at the end of the big hall space. One is on the right and the other is in the left. You’ll find Burger King, Popeyes, sbaro pizza and others on the right (that’s once you get upstairs from the passport control).
The airport is still under construction and because of that some charging points are not working. I had to buy a cup of coffee from a shop to sit and charge my phone.I enjoyed every hour I spent at the airport and I hope after reading this post you will too. The free meals and every other entitlement I spoke about HERE are still given.
If you got to this point, you’re the real MVP!!!
Thanks for stopping by till my next blog post remain fabulous!!!
